Workouts:
  • July 15: 12 laps of straights and curves, nothing timed but a perfect step back towards faster running!
  • July 22: 8 x 400 m with 200 m jogs. This went about like you'd expect your first workout in 6 weeks to go, but my hamstring was 100% which was the most important step! 1:28, 1:30, 1:30, 1:31, 1:32, 1:32, 1:33, 1:30.
  • July 27: 10 x 1:00 picks up during my long run.
  • July 29: 10 x 400 m with 1:30 jogs, full recovery, 1 mile threshold. The 400s were 1:26, 1:28, 1:28, 1:26, 1:27, 1:26, 1:27, 1:28, 1:27, 1:27, showing a significant improvement from the previous week! The threshold mile was 6:41, which wasn't great but in the stifling heat and humidity and after those 400s I suppose it could have been worse.
  • Favorite workout: July 29

Long Runs:
  • July 6: 10 miles
  • July 13: 13.3 miles
  • July 20: 14.1 miles, which was a themed run by associated sites after most of running group listed to a true crime podcast series about the Springfield Three.
  • July 27: 15.1 miles, including the Bass Pro Recycle Run fun run.
  • Favorite long run: July 20 since it had an interesting theme. None of these runs were quick, but it's nice to be increasing distance.

Running Highlights:
  • My hamstring is all good! I probably could have returned to workouts 1-2 weeks sooner than I did, but I was extra cautious because I don't have any races coming up.
Life Stuff:
  • We celebrated 4th of July in SE Kansas with lots of Ibbetsons.
  • I spent part of a weekend in Fayetteville, Arkansas for a bachelorette weekend. I came back early because Nugget's health scare started while I was there.
  • Nugget had saddle thrombus, a serious condition that only about 10% of afflicted cats survive. We are so thankful that he recovered, but I am terrified of reoccurrence. We are doing everything we can to rehabilitate him to regain full use of his hind legs and to treat his heart issues. He now takes 3 medications and 2 were easy to give from the start but learning to get the other one in him was quite an adventure that took me several days to master! He has progressed greatly in the 3 weeks since the acute episode and we have seen little milestones almost daily.
